This is the plaque that sat beneath the driver's side door of Old Orchard Beach, Maine's Engine 3. It was dedicated to the memory of my Grampy Billy, who suffered a heart attack and died at 62 years old, and my father, who was a Line Of Duty Death in December of 1977. A dog had fallen through the ice at nearby Milliken Mills Pond and he and one other firefighter successfully rescued it. Immediately after, he complained of fatigue, went up to his truck and suffered a major heart attack. He was revived on site, but lost as he entered Maine Medical Center. The truck was the next Engine in service in the Spring of 1980 and served in their absence for 29 1/2 years.
